Making the Switch to Firefox

Below are the customizations I use to enhance

• Get rid of the google search field and allow searching from the address bar:
• Customize UI to remove search bar - Right click the menu bar->customize, drag off the search bar
• Turn on inline autocomplete in the address bar: Type 'about:config' in the address bar, then create a pref called 'browser.urlbar.autoFill' and set it to true
• Set Google searches in the address bar by setting the pref 'keyword.URL' in about:config to 'http://www.google.com/search?btnG=Google+Search&q='
• Install Pinball for Firefox theme
• Remove the dark inactive tab colour by adding the following to the userchrome.css file inside your user profile directory:

  	tab {
  		color: GrayText !important;
  		background-color: Menu !important;
  	} 
  
  	tab[selected="true"] {
  		color: MenuText !important;
  		background-color: Menu !important;
  	}



• UserAgent switcher extension
• Adblock extension with this ruleset.
• Install Java - But it's giving me issues at the mo (Seems to be related to adblock. If you have adblock installed some Java applets don't work :() :(
• Make http://www.google.com/firefox the home page
• Install Flash
• LiveHeaders - good for Web developers
• Ben, Firefox lead developer, has some great tips on his blog - http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/ben
• Another good extension. Removes those annoying blank windows when you download a file froma site - Disable Target Extension
